What Is Important In Your Life?

This afternoon when I turned on my TV I heard that a terrorist attack had been stopped in a area four hours away from where I live and just a town over from where my son lives.

The first thought that came to me was "What is really important in to me." I do a lot of things, but do they really matter? They are good things but I decided that I need to spend my time reading my Bible more and sharing what I have read and learned. To love people better. And pray more for others.

The Sunday School class I just finished was on the subject am I a fan or follower of Jesus. I have been a fan a lot of times. For my gift to the Lord for 2016 is the word sacrifice. So I will be looking up all the verses that I can use to help me remember that word and what action I can take.

Have you ever given a gift to Jesus? Have you ever picked a theme for the year that has to do with living as a disciple? This could be the best New Year that you will have if you do so. Try it.

The Christmas Nightmare

The Christmas Nightmare is part two in our series of The Christmas Scandal.

Christmas is the scariest time of the year! If we look at Revelation chapter 12 it talks about a dragon, a baby, a woman, and war in heaven. These are the heavenly signs of Christmas. The real story of what happened the night that Christ was born.

Revelation 12:1-9
"Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars. Then being with child, she cried out in labor and in pain to give birth.

And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads. His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born. She bore a male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her Child was caught up to God and His throne. Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days.

And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, the serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him."

What has all this have to do with Christmas you may ask. From the message of Pastor Bill Berkheiser here is the answer.

The Woman is Israel
The Dragon is the Devil known also as Satan.
The Child is Christ
War in heaven happens when Christ is born.

Spiritual warfare takes place at the time of Jesus' birth. Satan did not want Jesus to be born because if He was then Satan knew his time would be shorted. If Christ is born it meant the cross and salvation and Satan would no longer be in control of those who lived on earth.

So it was not a peaceful night when Jesus was born as a spiritual war was going on between God and Satan. God wins and so Jesus was born as a baby so that He could save us from our sins and we could be with the Father and be born into God's family through faith in Jesus and what He did for us-His death, burial, and resurrection.

So even if we did not have lights, trees, gifts, there still would be Christmas because of the baby Jesus. Aren't you glad about that?

Have a very Blessed Christmas!

The Christmas Scandal

The Christmas Scandal is the title of a series that we are doing at our church. The first message was on Joseph and his feelings for Mary is wife-to-be.

 Let's look at Matthew 1:18-25:

"Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.

But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: and knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS."

WHAT WAS THE SCANDAL?
It took Mary awhile to tell Joseph that she was going to have a baby and when she did Joseph was very upset. He knew that this baby was not his child. The thoughts that ran through his mind may have been, "How could she do this?" "I thought she loved me and God."

Joseph loved Mary and according to the Jewish law Mary had to be stoned. She was unfaithful to her husband. Joseph didn't want to make Mary a public example so he was going to taker her away and divorce her.

Can you blame him? He felt betrayed and he knew his reputation would be ruin. But a wonderful thing happened. While Joseph was thinking on these things he had fallen asleep and while sleeping the angel of the Lord came to him in a dream. He explained to Joseph what was going on and the baby was of the Holy Ghost and that he should take Mary as his wife and have no fear about it.

When Joseph woke up he did as the angel said and went and got Mary and they were married and he knew her not until after Jesus was born.

Thought
Our God is so good. He had it all planned out. His ways are not our ways and to me it seem strange that He would use this method for which his Son would be born, but He knew what was the best way.

This coming Sunday we will have the second part of the story so I will report it after I hear it.

I'm Praising The Lord!

It has been a few days since I have posted. In my last post I was having some issues in my life that I had to get right with the Lord. So it took a lot of prayer, soul searching, and listening to what the Lord saying to me. He used His Word, messages, and the Holy Spirit to show me His ways.

I am now on level ground again, not on a mountain top or in a valley but walking forward in a path of peace and joy. I am again singing and making a joyful noise.

It was not an easy process and it didn't all come at once, but the Lord knew what I needed and I want to praise Him and thank Him for loving me and not giving up on me.

I felt your prayers and I thank you all for them. I know that this helped also.

The Lord is so good!

Things Can Change Quickly

The last blog I wrote I was singing and having joy in my heart and I was on the top of the mountain. Today it feels like I am at the bottom in a deep valley. How our lives can change very quickly.

Part of the problem is I am dealing with some things in my life that I need to change. I turn them over to God as I should. I pray about them, and think I have it settled, and then something will come up to bring the whole problem back. Do you every have this problem?

I know that the Lord will help me truly work it out and I just need to come before Him and let Him talk and I be silent. In Isaiah He is talking to His chosen people Israel, but I believe He talks to us today as His chosen people known as the Church. Here is what I read today and it helped a lot.

Isaiah 46:8-11
"Remember this and stand firm, recall it to mind, you transgressors, remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, 'My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose.' calling a bird of prey from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country. I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed, and I will do it.

I have a request and it is if you think of me at any time just pray. I want my life to be pleasing to the Lord and to His follower and I thank you in advance.

A Beautiful Morning

This morning as I was reading my Bible I just couldn't help wanting to sing out with thanksgiving to the Lord as joy had filled my heart.

I am reading through Isaiah and this morning I came to chapter 42. I underline and mark verses in my Bible and most of the verses are underlined or circled  because these verses mean a lot to me and I don't want to forget them.

The chapter title that I have in my Bible (English Standard Version) reads as follows: The LORD"s Chosen Servant. As I got to verse 5-9 I realized these verses were showing me who God is.

Isaiah 42:5-8
Thus says God, The LORD, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and what comes from it, who gives breath to the people on it and spirit to those who walk in it: I am the LORD; that is my name: my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to carved idols.

Isaiah 42:9
Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.

The chapter title I have for verses 10-13 is as follows: Sing to the LORD a New Song. When I got to these verses it showed me how I can praise the Lord.

Isaiah 42:10-12
Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise from the end of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that fills it, the coastlands and their inhabitants.  Let the desert and its cities lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar inhabits; let the habitats of Sela sing for joy, let them shout from the top of the mountains. Let them give glory to the LORD, and declare his praise in the coastlands.

Isaiah 42:13
The LORD goes out like a mighty man, like a man of war he stirs up his zeal; he cries out, he shouts aloud, he shows himself mighty against his foes.

Questions
Do you agree with me that what better way to start a day is by reading verses like these? Do they excite you? I trust your day is made better by reading God's word.

Psalm 34:1-22

Sunday, November 29, 2015, at our morning service we had a different kind of service. All three Pastors spoke on Psalm 34. Each of them took a few verses and spoke of them. It was a very moving service. I want to share Psalm 34 with you so and see if you receive a blessing from it.

Psalm 34:1-3
I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My shall make its boast in the LORD; the humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together.

Psalm 34:4-7
I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried out, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him and delivers them.

Psalm 34:8-10
Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing.

Psalm 34:11-14
Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. Who is the man who desires life, and loves many days, that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit. Depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

Psalm 34:15-16
The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry. The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

Psalm 34:17-18
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles, the LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit.

Psalm 34:19-22
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all. *He guards all his bones; not one of them is broken. Evil shall slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous shall be condemned. The LORD redeems the soul of His servants, and none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned.

* Christ when He was on the cross.

A New Blog

The other day I was shopping for something at a craft store and on my way out, as I was waiting in line, I saw this magazine, Where Women Create and I decided to get it and started to pick it up and then put it back. But I thought I would like to have it so I picked it up again. I am so glad I did.

I was praying yesterday what the will of the Lord was for my life. I know that He has a plan for me but there are so many directions that I want to go I just wasn't sure. Well as I was reading this magazine I came across an article about a woman named Holly Snelling. She had tried many things in her life time but nothing seem to be right until she started a business called "The Hobnob Market." She has different vendors come in and display there things and the money that is made from selling the items go straight to the vendors. This way she feels she is helping the community, the vendors, and herself.

What got my attention in this article was in a small paragraph in Holly's article that mentioned a blog called Life in Grace and one of her favorite posts was called how to find God's will for your life. That is just what I needed, so I went to the blog. I got answers and much more information. The Lord answers prays in strange ways.

On this blog there are many different categories to chose from and here is the link to it: lifeingraceblog.com. I can recommend it with confidence you will receive many blessings and find a new friend.

If Dogs Could Talk

The other day I was setting in my car waiting for my husband to fill up the gas tank. As I was waiting for him I looked out the driver's side of the window and in the next lane was a truck with a dog in it.

For some reason I always talk to animals like they are humans so even though the dog could not hear me I asked him how he was doing? He just starred at me and quickly turned his head. If a dog could talk I can just imagine what it was thinking, "What a crazy lady that is sitting in the car next to me!"

The dog turned his head back to me and I could tell my his eye movements he didn't want to look at me again. His eyes would turn to the left, then to the right, he would lift them up but he would not look straight at me. Finally the dog gave a big yawn and then the truck left.

I laughed so hard because when I am talking to people they always end up yawning too. I thought it was so funny that the dog yawned too. I hope I am not that boring.

Thought
God wants us to have a good time. It may seem strange to talk to animals but times animals too like attention as much or even more than people. Be kind to an animal today.

Most important be kind to people today. God will be pleased.

A Near Miss

The other evening my husband and I went to visiting hours at a funeral home. After paying our respects and crying a little over the pictures that were set up--we left.

As we went down the street it brought back lots of memories as my husband's Aunt lived on the street of the funeral home. Then when we went around the corner trying to decide where we were going to eat we went on the street that my husband walked on to get to school. We also passed the hospital that I usually go to and the one my husband was born in and and also all our children. I remember saying, "I hope we don't have to go there again soon!"

We came to the end of the side street we were on and there was a lot of traffic and no street light. It was dark and raining. A car motioned us to go and so we started across the street. However we were very nervous as we had to cross traffic and we could not see if any traffic was coming. We finally started across the street and sure enough as we pulled out there was a car almost on top of us. Of course I tried not to scream for if the car had hit us it would have been on my side of the car right in the middle of the door. I said, "Thank you Lord," as we got safely into the parking lot. Also a lot of cars were behind the one that would have hit us so there would have been a lot of other people hurt also.

We decided the safest and best way to get to this Restaurant again would be to go down a few more side streets and come out at a light and turn left and go toward the Restaurant that way.

Maybe I shouldn't have said, "I hope we don't have to go to that place again, meaning the hospital." I am so glad that the Lord protected us.

The Desire Of My Heart

As I was waking up this morning I was thinking about the dream I just had. It brought me to talking with my Heavenly Father. All week long I have been hearing messages on getting the desires of my heart. And this week I was asked the question what do I value in life? One of my answers was to have a closer relationship with my God.

This morning I knew in my heart for sure what one of my desires was and that is to be a better Prayer Warrior. Every time I think about it my mind overloads. Then the Holy Spirit put a thought in my mind, I want to give praise where praise is due.

Since I like to do crafts the idea was to write on a pieces of lined paper the names of all the people and ministries I want to pray for. Then after I have them written down, cut out the names and fold them over once. Then I have a canning jar that I am going to label PRAYER and  place the names in the jar. Then I can pick out however many names I want and prayer for that person, place, or ministry.  When I am finished place those names in another container. When my PRAYER jar is empty start over again with those in the second container. This idea is good for me as my attention span is not very long as I have ADHD. So this way I feel and am taking action in an area that I need to grow in.

Maybe an idea like this will help you not feel so overpowered and at least you can work on praying for someone or something each day.

Prayer
Thank you Father, Holy Spirit, and Jesus for giving me this idea. It is a great one for me and I pray that maybe it can help someone else who wants to pray more, but feels overwhelmed with this part of being close to You. I pray it in Jesus' Name believing that you will bless this prayer and I will have joy in my heart and become closer to You.Thank you for showing me how I can start with this one desire and move on to the others that you have given to me.

Putting A Smile On The Face Of God

The other day I spoke of one way of putting a smile on God's face and that is by reading His Word and sharing it. Today I learned of another way of pleasing God.

The answer is found in Romans 8:1-11. I need to type all the verses for you to see the whole picture.

"There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.

For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Chirst is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you."

So the way to put a smile on the face of God is by living in the Spirit. Thinking of the things of the Spirit such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires and keep in step with the Spirit.

How About You?
Are you walking in the flesh or in the Spirit?

An Answer To Prayer

Even though I was not able to hear the whole program this morning on my local Christian Radio Station I was able to hear enough to know that the prayer I prayed last night was answered today.

My prayer was how I could make the Lord happy. One way to make the Lord happy is not to keep things to myself, but I am to share with others. Sharing Bible verses is one way to make the Lord happy.

So one of the verses that I want to share is found in I John 3:18 "My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth."

God is all about love. If we love God we will love others even though they may be unlovable. We are not just to say we love them, but we are to show them we love them. Love is an action word.

So one way I learned to make Jesus happy is to love others no matter what.

How About You?
Does this verse encourage you to love others and make Jesus happy?

The Strange Side Of Me/ Update on my grandson Nate

I enjoy doing different kind of things which is not so strange, but the things I choose to do is sometime very strange.

For example this morning at breakfast time I had a piece of toast on my plate and as I looked at it I could see a design in the toast. So I decided to take a picture of it. Who knows one day it may appear in some type of art work.

The Lord has given me a great desire to be different and not so conventional. I believe that is what makes me unique and one of a kind.

Update On Grandson
Nate doesn't have a broken hand. He spranged it.

The Good And Bad

Yesterday, Saturday October 10, 2015, my daughter and I were able to go together to my church and do some crafts. We both made wreaths. It was a great day together. Then she came to our house and spent some time with myself and her Dad which we all enjoyed a great deal. That is the good news.

After she left she stopped at the gas station to get gas before she went home.  After getting the gas she called home to let her family know she was on the way. Her son Nate answered the phone and told his Mom that he had fallen off his bike.

When she got home she saw that both hands were pretty scraped up. He had his helmet on so it protected his head. This morning Nate was complaining that his one hand hurt a lot. So Tim, his Dad, took him to the doctors.

The doctor looked at it and since it was swollen she sent Nate over to the ER to get x-rays. The doctor thinks Nate may have broken it. So at the time I am writing this they have not received and answer back from the ER yet. Nate is the one that broke a front tooth a few weeks back in a gym accident.

I remember those days very well when our children were younger and how many trips to the ER and doctors we had made.

The Lord was with him as he could have had a head injury also.

Great Week

Some of my weeks are filled with exciting events and then some aren't. This past week was one of the exciting weeks.

Two events that stand out for me are: A Girls Night Out put on by a women's group at one of our local churches in my area. The main event was a concert given by Damaris Carbaugh who is a singer and speaker. Damaris gave us a great concert. She would sing a song and then talk and then sing again. I could tell it was coming from her heart. Afterwards we were able to buy dvds, cds and other materials. She sang songs from her newest cd so I bought that one.

The other event was that my daughter told me that on Saturday her and her husband were able to walk their oldest son, Elijah, down the isle so that he could be recognized at school for his accomplishments.

He was asked what he was going to do after his senior year and he said that he wanted to go to medical school. He is thinking of a school right now in New York State.

He is a honor student, has taken and is taking college courses this year and last, he was the mascot for the football team. He also plays in the band and has help put on plays by doing background work. He is a fine Christian young man and very proud of him.

I am so glad that my daughter has stayed in the faith and has tried to raise her three children in knowing the truth and having the Bible as their guideline. All three have accepted the Lord and she married a believer.

Happy Grandma! Update

A few days ago I reported that my grandson received and injury at school. It involved him chipping one of his front teeth.

The dentist had to reshape his tooth and so eating is still a problem that my grandson has. I believe once he gets use to the feeling he will do fine. So far the Lord has been answering prayers and he has no problem with the root connected to the tooth.

My family and I are very grateful for anyone who were praying for my grandson. We appreciate your prayers.

A Hurting Grandma

As with our own children we hurt when they hurt. In my case it was not one of my children that got hurt but my grandchild.

Today my grandson was in a school accident. He was in his gym class and they have a treadmill.  Another student changed the dial on the treadmill and my grandson didn't know it until he went on. He started it up and turns out he was set to run around 90 miles an hour and of course my grandson lost his balance and fell on his face and chipped on of his front teeth.

They tried many dentists before they could find one that was opened on a Friday afternoon. They found on outside of their city and got the tooth fixed as best as they could.  He is hurting a lot this evening.

The Lord was watching over him as there could have been more damage and more severe injuries. We are praying they got him to the dentist in time and that there will be no root damage. If there is he will have to have a root canal. He is only twelve years old.

Another Good Book

As you can tell I like to read. Yesterday as I was straightening up the shelves at my local library I came across a book entitled Grab a Broom, Lord...There's Dust Everywhere! By Karon Phillips Goodman.

I took it out and starting to read it. It is a hard book to put down. The theme of the book is the imperfect woman's guide to God's grace.

Do you try to be perfect in everything? I try, but don't get to far into the day before I have messed up something. What the author has to say is that God made us so that we are not perfect. That way we will depend on Him and have a need for Him and His help.

Since we are made up of dust that comes into play in this book. The dust is our messing up and pieces of us are scattered all over, but God has His broom to sweep up our dust and it is the only broom we will need even if it is a big mess.

You can get this book on Amazon.com and Karon has written other books also. So if you like this one you may want to try her other ones she has written.

Good reading.

A Beautiful Sight

Last night when I was coming out of church I turned my head toward the left and there was the most glorious moon I have ever seen.

The big white full moon looked like it was just coming up over the mountain. Then as I was driving home I saw it from different points. At one spot it was high in the sky and it was going upward into a cloud. By the time I got home it had disappeared completely.

It just reminded me how great of a God we have and there are still some beautiful things that we can see upon this earth of ours.

It Is Better To Be Safe Than Sorry

I am looking up in my dictionary what the word mistaken means. A few words which I found were: unsound, illogical, flawed and misinterpreted. This is what happened to me today.

It Happened This Way
I was at work and I went into the ladies bathroom. As I looked down I saw a very strange site. To me it looked like a feather, but then again, it looked like the feather had a head. Very strange indeed.

I went out to tell my co-worker and see what she thought it was. She wasn't sure either. Then I went looking for our maintenance man. He wasn't around so another  one of our male co-workers came to our rescue carrying a large tool in one hand and a piece of cardboard in the other to scoop this object up.

I opened up the door to check to see if anyone was in the bathroom, no one was there, so my co-worker went in, bent down and scooped up this strange looking object.

He yells out, "Its only a feather." A wave of relief came over me. I then took a closer look. What happened was the tip of the feather had bumps on it which made it look like a head. I laughed and went out and told my co-worker what it was. We concluded that it is better to be safe than sorry.

I imagine when my co-worker went out back to his workroom and told the man that was looking through some records, that they had a good laugh.

I used to take myself so seriously, but I now say, relax and enjoy the day no matter what happens.

TV and Radio What Do They Have In Common

James 1:21,22 (AB)
So get rid of all uncleanness and the rampant outgrowth of wickedness, and in a humble, gentle, modes spirit receive and welcome the Word which implanted and rooted in your hearts contains the power to save your souls.

But be doers of the Word, obey the message, and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth.

The Story
It Happened This Way
Sunday morning I was listening to a program on TV with the theme of the above verses. Then as I was going to church I turned on the radio and it was the same message. I was very surprised, but I shouldn't been. The Lord has different ways of getting messages to me.

A Special Day

It has been a quiet week except for my back starting to hurt again. But I see my doctor on Monday. I wasn't able to go to my chiropractor this week as he wanted to wait and see me in two weeks instead of one. I guess it really does make a difference when I see him.

Today is a very special day for myself and my husband. It was seventeen years ago that we joined my daughter and son-in-law at the hospital in order to see their first child born. I was so excited that I took my camera out and was going to take a picture of us together. However the man that was directing us to the place we needed to go said, "Don't you want to be in the picture?" I was going to have him in the picture instead of me. So he was kind enough to take the picture with all of us including me instead of him in it.

When it was time for our daughter to have the baby we were able to stand outside in the hallway as the doctor did a c-section on our daughter. We saw our grandson just seconds after being born as they doctor held him up for us to see. Then afterwards we were able to go in and hold him after he got weighted, cleaned up, and had his bath.

Just before we left the hospital to come home, Elijah had to be taken down to the ICU for babies as his blood sugar went to low. We were able to see him in the unit. It was very strange sight as Elijah weighted in over ten pounds and right next to him was a baby weighing only a few pounds. He stayed in the hospital for a little while longer than his mom.

He lost a lot of his weight after coming home because most of it was fluid because my daughter is a diabetic so that is why Elijah was so big.

He still is a big boy or should say big young man. He is now six and a half feet tall which means he is a half inch taller than his dad. He is built like his dad which means he is a big boned boy. The were up a week ago and our neighbor saw Elijah leaving our house and  she said, "Wow! Look at the size of that boy." She has a son who is a few months older than Elijah. Her son is six feet tall also but very slim.

So we are very happy grandparents on this day.

A Precious Daughter

I was talking to my daughter this evening and she was looking at facebook and she started to laugh. I asked her what she was laughing about and this was her comment.

Mom, someone posted this ad. Do you want to buy bone free bananas at .47 cents a pound? We both just laughed together.

I am so grateful that My Heavenly Father created my wonderful, caring daughter Kimberley.

She calls everyday to make sure we are doing alright. When I do see her in person myself and my husbands get plenty of hugs and she really hates to leave once she is with us.

I must also say that I have two sons that are very thoughtful also and I am so glad that I have them too. They don't call as much, but they care and love us deeply.

Book Review-not a fan.

not a fan.
BECOMING A COMPLETELY COMMITTED FOLLOWER OF JESUS
Kyle Idleman

Did you know there is a difference in being a fan of Christ and a follower of Him? There is a huge difference and you will find out what the differences are if you read this book.

Some may think they are followers, but they are only fans. Here is a quote from page 31 to give you an idea what this book is all about.

"Most of us don't mind Jesus making some minor change in our lives, but Jesus wants to turn our lives upside down. Fans don't mind him doing a little touch-up, but Jesus wants complete renovation. Fans come to Jesus thinking tune-up, but Jesus is thinking overhaul. Fans think a little makeup is fine, but Jesus is thinking makeover. Fans think a little decorating is required, but Jesus wants a complete remodel. Fans want Jesus to inspire them, but Jesus wants to interfere with their lives."

Max Lucado, pastor of Oak Hills Church and bestselling author says, "Kyle Idleman knows where we live and where we could live with God's help. His words are, at once, profound and practical. He is committed to helping us move in the right direction. If you need a helping hand in your journey, he'll point you to the right Person."

This book is put out by Zondervan, ISBN #978-0-310-33193-3 if you want to look it up on the internet or in your local Christian book section.

Great book!

Charlie

Proverbs 20:11(a) Even a child is known by his doings...

The Event:
For the summer months I have been working at the front desk of the Youth Services Department of my local library. Each day a little boy named Charlie and his grandfather come into the library. It is almost the same routine; Charlie arrives and passes the adult desk first and you can hear workers say, "Hi Charlie," then he and his Grandfather come to the Youth Service's Department and Charlie puts his books on the table, we asked him how he is doing and it depends on what he has done already that morning. Then he and his grandfather look for ten books in different parts of the easy section of the library. They find their books and bring them to be checked out. The fun part is asking Charlie more question.

This one day Charlie was in a very talkative mood and was telling us all about his new toy that he has added to his collection that go with his train set. Then my co-worker asked Charlie how he liked the football game he was planning on going to see. Charlie said good. Then his grandfather asked him what he liked best. Charlie said, "The cheerleaders." Of course we all laughed for you see Charlie is only two-years-old. He is starting early.

The Lord has given us children and you can almost tell how that child is being raised. Not always. I imagine Charlies at home is a normal two-year-old, but when he is out in public he is well-manned and very intelligent. He can named all the states, capitals of the states, tell you the shape of that state if it were on a map. He is around a lot of grown-ups and they are training him well.

Prayer
Thank you Father for allowing us to have children and that was your plan all along. I pray for the children of this generation as they have so much more they have to deal with then in other generations. I pray for Charlie and his parents and grandparents that they will continue to try to help Charlie learn good things and that you would keep him safe from all the garbage that is out there in the world.

A Full Moon

I wasn't sure what I was going to write about today until I looked out my window that is above my computer. What I see is a pure white full moon with darkness all around looking down on me.

What beauty and it reminds me of the handiwork of my God.

I took a picture of it but was not able to load it unto my computer at this time. Hope to get it in my pictures so can show you.

Do You Have Teeth?

Today as I was going to work I was waiting for a red light to turn green. I looked in the next lane at a car ahead of me and in big bold white letters it said, Do You Have Teeth? I laughed an thought what funny sayings and things that we see on cars, signs and other places. This car happened to be associated with a dentist office in our local area. So it was a way of getting your attention to checking out the dentist office.

As I was thinking about laughing at the sign a verse in  *Proverbs came to mind. "A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance;..." It was a great way to start the day.

*Proverbs 15:13 (a)

How About You?
Do you have a cheerful or merry heart?

What Is A Disciple

I was going to change the name of my blog, but as it turns out someone else had the name already so I decided to keep the name I have.

I was looking up the word disciple to see what it means in the original Greek language and found out it means a learner. So simple.

If you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as being the Son of God and that He left heaven and came to earth, lived for about thirty-three years, and then died on a cross for our sins, was buried, and rose again, and returned back to heaven to be with His Father, then what you need to do in order to be a disciple is read the Bible and learn from Christ about what He did, how He lived, and then follow His commands.

Commands-that is not an easy word to hear. We often rebel at the word command or commandments. Since a believer is one of God's children the commandments are there to help us not hurt us or keep us from having fun. It is like a parent telling their child what rules that they have for their home. Same way with the Lord. Rules for conduct in our life so that we will not make our Heavenly Father ashamed of us.

Find a Bible that you can understand and has all the facts in it such as King James Version or New English Version, I sometimes use the Amplified Bible to help me understand better what words mean and I also have the old Strong's Concordance to help me find out the true meaning of a word. There are many places on the computer in which you can go to such as Blue Letter Bible and get information.

For this blog I like sharing what the Lord has done in my life or lives of others so that the information will help you.

Please feel free to share your thoughts. I read the posts before I put them on. If you don't want your post to be published let me know this and I won't post it.

Have a great day!

Wisdom

James 1:5-8
If you need wisdom-if you want to know what God wants you to do-ask him, and he will gladly tell you. He will not resent your asking. BUT when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to answer, for a doubtful mind is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. People like that should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. They can't make up their minds. They waver back and forth in everything they do.

As I was reading this verse the other day in my quiet time with the Lord I had a decision to make. So I did what the first part of this verse says to do. I asked God for wisdom and I asked believing He would give me the answer. Sometimes in the past I have been a double-minded person. But that day and from now on I am asking my Heavenly Father for wisdom and knowing that He will answer my prayer because I believe He will.

I did get my answer and since then I had to ask several more times for His wisdom and He again has answered.

I am learning each day to trust the Lord my Savior, God my Father, and the Holy Spirit my Guide more and more. I am growing. I have not reached the end yet but I want to finish my life in knowing that I am pleasing my Lord in all that I do.

How about you? Do you want to please the Lord? One way in doing so is to ask Him for wisdom believing He will answer your prayer. Maybe not in the way you would want but He always answers them.

Praising The Lord For Answered Prayer

Yesterday, August 4, 2015, I had so much pain in my lower back that I had to go to our walk-in-clinic before I went to work. The doctor had me stand up and he checked my body alignment and notice right off that my left shoulder was higher than the right side. Then he said my right hip was not in the right place. Then he had me bend over and he felt where the spin was located and diagnosed that my spin was curving. There is a another name for it but don't know how to spell it. He recommended that I check with my regular doctor and have a x-ray, therapy would be a good idea, and not sit for very long at a time as sitting irritates the problem.

I went to work after seeing the doctor and my co-workers asked how I was doing. I told them. Some of my co-workers are Christians. I know that someone prayed for me as when I woke up this morning there is not pain as I had yesterday and I feel much better.

Of course a curving spine doesn't go away unless the Lord totally healed my body, but at least for now the pain is not there in my lower back.

I just want to praise the Lord for answered prayer.

Hot Air Balloons

It is that time of year around here when we have our annual Hot Air Balloon Festival. This year there are a lot more added things to the festival. My husband and I aren't going as it is to much walking for us. But if the wind is just right the balloons will come our way and all we have to do is look up and see them. It is a very exciting time.

My husband and I for one of our anniversaries took a hot air balloon ride. It was great! To be so high up and see all the beauty looking down toward the ground. It was fun to see a baseball game, dogs barking at the sound of the balloon passing over, and all the people that stop on the road and yelling up to us. The only bad thing was the landing. The company was called Soft Landings, but it was a windy night by the time we came down and so we tipped over when the basket hit the ground. All-in-all it was great! I would do it again if it didn't cost so much. Felt so close to God as we drifted across the sky.

Today's thought
I was again reading my calendar on my desk and it reads as follows:"Treat your friends like family and your family like friends. I thought that was good advise.

Thought From My Personal Bible Study

I felt the need of a personal Bible Study and so I chose to read and study James. In the first verse I read something that I did not realize until I was reading James again. This is what is great about reading the Bible over and over you always can find something new or be reminded of something that you forgot all about. In my case saw something new.

James 1:1
James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ. In most of the different letters written the authors say they were a servant of just the Lord Jesus Christ. But James adds God to the statement of being a servant.

What a great idea! To be a servant to God and to His Son.

Printshop Software

I have for the longest time I wanted a graphic design program so that I could make up some graphic designs. I found one today that was reasonable and all that I needed to do what I want to do. It also has Royalty-free images for commercial use. This is good because I want to make up some designs for Bible verses and Bible sayings and there might be some images I can use to get my design made up to look professional and be a blessing to those who receive them.

I also bought a new Bible. I have a few that I used and this one was a recommendation from my Youth Pastor which uses it and also our Pastor uses it when he does his messages. It is the English Standard Version. My Bible is a reference Bible so can look up verses easier as they are on the side of the page next to the verses.

So very excited and will be using my new Bible for Bible verses that I use on this site. It is very close to the King James Version so feel comfortable in using it.

What version of the Bible to you have? And why do you like that version? Can comment  below and I can post it or not. Just let me know if you want it posted as I have to read them first.

An Act Of Kindness

I have a calendar on my desk next to my computer. When I changed the date for today  I was very surprised. The verse on the calendar is I Thessalonians 5:11 TLB and reads as follows: "So encourage each other to build each other up, just as you are already doing."

I volunteer at my local library on Mondays and I am given different jobs to do. This past Monday I was asked to straighten up the shelves. I did so and left. Today I received a phone call from the library clerk who I work with and she wanted to tell me that she and the director of the library were very happy with what I had done and if I would mind keep doing this job when I come in on Mondays. I told I would be glad to do it and I thanked her very much for calling.

I'm not writing this to brag, but it was just a nice encouragement to know that I was appreciated.

That is what the Bible verse is all about and I want to personally do more encouraging others and show my appreciation for all that they do.

I hope that you will want to do the same for those that encourage you either by words or their actions.

I Can't Believe It!

I haven't been on for a couple of day partly due to the weater. It has been very humid and hot. My main computer is upstairs and even with a fan it is very hot. Heat bothers me so I didn't go upstairs much.

Why I have titled this post as I have is that for at least eighteen years my poor children had their bedrooms upstairs. I really don't know how they did it.I dwon't think we had any fans for them. Every once in a while our youngest would come downstairs and sleep on the couch. They never really complained. I am so thankful for my children.

Prayer
Father I just want to thank you for watching over our children and keeping them safe. And I also want to thank you for keeping me safe as I am Your child.

The Lord's Future Reign

Isaiah 2:1-5 Summary

  1. Another vision came to Isaiah. (See Chapter 1 for the first vision.)
  2. In the last days, the Temple of the LORD in Jerusalem will become the most important place on earth.
  3. People from all over the world will go there to worship
  4. Many nations will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the Temple of the God of Israel. There he will teach us his ways, so that we may obey him."
  5. In those days the LORD's teaching and his word will go out from Jerusalem.
  6. The LORD will settle international disputes.
  7. All the nations will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.
  8. All wars will stop, and military training will come to an end.
Come, people of Israel, let us walk in the light of the LORD!

One Of My Drawings

I like to do tangles. It relaxes me and I have fun doing them. I have a pocket size notebook that I carry in my pocketbook and when I am waiting for an appointment or have some spare time I tangle.

This is one of my favorites. To me it has personality!

Right now I am trying to learn lettering so that I can do Bible verses and other sayings and have them set in a tangle. When I get one done that I like I will shall it with you.

In The Present

I have heard a few messages lately that had the theme of being in the present not the pass or future. Today as I was reading one of my e-mails they had this to say, don't force myself to be what I was yesterday, but be the best I can be today.

I don't know about you, but I tend to think to much of things in the past and not enjoy the present or sometimes do my best in a day I am in.

My goal is just enjoy, go with, and stop and see all the beauty that is around me. I can't stop and smell the roses as I am allergic to them, but I can look at their beauty. And all the beauty that God has made.

Have a great day!

Music

Psalm 95:1-7 NLT

Come, let us sing to the LORD!

Let us give a joyous shout to the rock of our salvation!

Let us come before him with thanksgiving.

Let us sing him psalms of praise.

For the LORD is a great God, the great King above all gods.

He owns the depths of the earth, and even the mightiest mountains are his.

The sea belongs to him, for he made it. His hands formed the dry land, too.

Come, let us worship and bow down.

Let us kneel before the LORD our maker, for he is our God.

We are the people he watches over, the sheep under his care.

Oh, that you would listen to his voice today!

Isaiah 1:21-23 Makes Me Sad

I was just reading Isaiah 1:21-23 and I began to feel so sad and wanted to cry. God's people, the Israelites, were making Him sad. He wanted to have a personal relationship with His people, but they didn't want anything to do with Him.

Jerusalem was once so faithful-now they became like a prostitute.

Once the home of justice and righteousness-now filled with murderers.

Once like pure silver, now they had become like worthless dross.

Once they were pure-then they became like watered-down wine.

Its leaders were all rebels and companions of thieves. They all took bribes and refused to defend the orphans and widows.

Can't you hear the sadness and pain in these words?

Book Review

I have just read a fabulous Christian book entitled The Carpenter and it is written by Jon Gordon.

It is a story about two men and how their lives came together. One owned a business and the stress of everyday life overtook him and he collapsed on the street as he was running. Another man who was known as The Carpenter came and helped him and saved his life.

All through the story, as the Carpenter is helping our main character make an entertainment center, gives our business man advise on how to live.  The Carpenter made a heart out of wood and craved in the words LOVE, SERVE, CARE Each word is talked about and the main character sees how he can make his life and his business better.

Very clear message of how we can too live our lives as better Christians and disciples for the Lord.

You can go to Jon Gordon's web site to get a look at the book and where you can get the book. Here are the sites you can go to.

I believe you will like this book very much.

The Day After

For us in the United States we celebrated the Fourth Of July on July 4th. It was raining so didn't have a picnic outside but had one inside. Our daughter and her family came. So we got to see our grandchild (3 of them) ages 16, 12, 10. Then our youngest son came with is wife-to-be and this time they brought their dog Lucky which is always welcome and fussed over as is our children welcome and hugged a lot.

While we waited for Jason and Pema to come the rest of us played games and we just had a great time together.

I hope all of you had a great day also.

Today went to church and we said the Pledge to the flag and sang The Star Spangle Banner and other songs. We had a great message and also two people were baptized today. So it was a great morning.

I pray that all of you will have a good week.

Rejoice!

When are we to rejoice? We rejoice when things are going good and then we can praise our God for what He has done for us. That seems very logical. But I read in James 1:2-3..."Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations. Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience.

The verses that follow continue on with why we can rejoice. But do we rejoice when we are going through trials? It is not an easy thing. Maybe you are going through some illness. Maybe it is lost of a love one etc. Instead of complaining and whining we are to do what-rejoice.

My prayer for you today is to read James 1 at least if not the whole book and find some very inspiring and helpful verses to show you how you can rejoice in your trials. I know all about trials and so I know that these verses helped me through them all.

A Good Report

Tonight my husband and I received an unexpected phone call from our oldest son. It was a surprise and very well received. He doesn't call much, but he was just checking in on us to see if we were ok.

We also got news on our new granddaughter is doing. She is gaining weight as she should be. She is very hungry all the time so when she sees the doctor tomorrow I imagine the doctor will give them information on what to do. Other than that she is turning herself over already. She is only four weeks old. My son said that they have to put five blanket all around Chase so that she will not turn over while sleeping. She tried to crawl up his chest today.

Grandpas and grandmas often brag about their grandchildren. We have ten now. And it is so amazing to me how God makes every baby different. I am sure glad of this as I world would be a very dull place if everyone were the same. We would be like robots.

I am talking more about this baby because for me she is our miracle baby. Actually she is our third miracle baby. God is so good. This baby should have never been conceived as her mother had cancer and she was just getting over her last treatments. That is why she didn't know she was pregnant until she was four months along. She thought it might have something to do with her cancer.

At four months she weighted one pound and when she was born she weighted five pounds so the Lord allow her to grow and she is doing fine and is a good baby.

Thank you Father for all your kindness to us.

Behind The Scenes

Our Pastor, the other night, asked all of us at the service if we appreciated all those who did things behind the scenes. Those who cleaned the church, those who practiced hours before playing their instrument, or those who sing in the choir or praise group. If so then go to that person and thank them for what they do.

It goes with the verse I was looking at in Matthew 6:1 and that is "Take care not to do your good deeds publicly or before men, in order to be seen by them; otherwise your will have no reward that is awaiting you with and from your Father Who is in heaven."

If these people do the things they do in order to get praise from people then they are doing it for the wrong reason. They will have their reward down here and that is all. It is nice to tell someone that you were blessed by what they did. But they only know their attitude.

I get my greatest joy and feel most rewarded when I do something for someone and they don't know that it came from me. Helping a child go to camp, things like that. We don't always have to be recognize in things that we do, we just need to have a right heart and the Lord will know what we do and what our heart is like. If He is pleased so am I.

Another Day Is Coming To A Close

I am sure glad that I have the Lord as my Savior. He cares for me all the time. Thank you Jesus.

Today I went to the doctors for a checkup from a few months ago. I could tell him that my feet and back felt better with the medicine he gave me. Which is a blessing. Then I told him what else was going on. I should not have done that. Well, of course I should have, but every time I go to the doctor he always finds other things wrong.

This time I have an upper respiratory infection. I have been coughing for about a month. But the other doctor said I had clear lungs. Also I mentioned another problem and he took a test and they found some kind of chemical and my white count wasn't normal so they were sending it off for a culture. So he gave me an antibiotic that would take care of both things.

The last thing that he said was I may have carpal tunnel in both hands but it only showed up in one of them. Now I need to wear a brace on my hand.

We never know what is going to happen in a day. He did tell me different things I could do beside the brace to help the problem so this is good news.

Time to go and rest my hand. Will talk to you tomorrow. Have a good evening.

Being A Disciple

When I first started this blog I wanted to share with people how to be a disciple. A disciple is one who follows their teacher. Our Teacher is the Lord Jesus Christ. By reading His Word He shows us how He wants us to life. Do we always life the right way? No but in I Peter 1:3 the Lord gives us His words of encouragement.

I Peter 1:3
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

My prayer is that I can be more like Paul and follow his example as he imitated and followed Christ.

Take Time To Be Quiet

Psalm 46:10
"Be still, and know that I am God..."

As I was thinking about what I was going to write about today the thought came to me to write about taking time to be quiet.

How many of us do that? I know that I don't and I feel guilty if I do, but according to the Scriptures this is the wrong attitude to have.

God wants us to be still so that we can become calm and also wait for Him to talk with us. Not in an audible voice but bringing to mind, through the Holy Spirit, verses, or maybe some sin that we need to confess, maybe just a time to talk with Him about what is going on in our life. He knows already, but He likes to hear it from us. Talk things over with Him first - then go to others if that is what directed for us to do.

A still or quiet time is a peaceful time and fellowship time with God.

Are you taking time to be quiet?

A Sunday School Project

A few weeks ago in our Sunday School Class for pre-K-4th grade we did a project which I thought came out very good.

The teacher in charge had the girls choose a markers that were blue, black, red, green, and yellow. Then the teacher wrote on the board the different colors and a Bible verse(s) after the color.

The girls then chose beads of the same colors and put them on a piece of string and made a bracelet. I made one also and was able to use it in an ice cream store that I was in as I was talking with a complete stranger and she brought up the subject of going to heaven.

Here are the colors and the verses. White and yellow didn't come out so that you could read them well so listed them again at the bottom in black. Just wanted to give you an idea what it looked like put together.

Blue- Means earth
(Verses)
Genesis 1:l "In the beginning God created the heaven and earth."
Colossians 1:16 "All things were created by Christ for Christ..."

Black-Means sin
(Verse)
Romans 3:23 "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

Red-Means blood
(Verse)
Romans 5:8 "While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

White- Means clean heart-forgiven
(Verse) Isaiah 1:18 "Though your sins be like scarlet they will be white as snow,"

Green- Means grow
(Verses)
Galatians 5:22, 23 "Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control."

Yellow- Means Heaven
(Verse)
alonians 4:17 "We will be with the Lord Forever.

Again all the colors are Blue which means earth. Black means sin. Red means blood of Christ. White means a clean heart and forgiveness and the verse for this one is Isaiah 1:18 Though your sins be like scarlet they will be white as snow. Green means grow or growing in your Christian life by having the fruit of the Spirit. Yellow means heaven and I Thessalonians 4:17 tells that we will be with the Lord forever.

With beads or other objects you can make many things with these colors and tell the Salvation plan that God has for us.

Thought
Why don't you try it and see if it works as a simple tool for you to share the Good News of Christ's death, burial, and rising again and going to be with His Father in heaven again.

Waiting On The Lord

Psalm 27:14
"Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait I say, on the LORD."

It has been a few months since I have written anything on this blog. I was in the process of writing a book, my husband was in the hospital for a few days, and I have been struggling with not having feeling in my feet, and having some numbness, burning, and stabbing pain in my legs, arms and fingers.

Today when I opened up the blog I had a beautiful comment about the verse I chosen for the day and how the person was blessed. Then I knew that the Lord wanted me to continue writing this blog.

I have finished my book, but don't feel like it is ready to be published yet. Have to do some more editing and updates with it.
My husband is doing fine now, and I am learning how to deal with the pain. I am going to enjoy my life and by writing this blog again.

I want to share what the Lord is doing in my life and as I wait upon the LORD and be of good courage He will strengthen my heart and give me the words to say and give Him the honor and glory.

Thought
Are you waiting on the LORD and being of good courage?

Psalm 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God.

This verse is a good one especially if you are going through a trial.

Maybe you are like me and sometimes your mind is going about a thousand miles a minute. Just think of this verse. Be still, and know that there is a God who loves you.

Thoughts

Psalm 139:13-16
"For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."

As I was eating my breakfast yesterday morning I kept thinking about how amazing my body was. God created me. He knew what He wanted me to be like. My hair color, my eyes, and other features that I have. He made me just the way He wanted.

I have not always loved myself in a way that I should. I have often times felt useless, unloved, and many other thoughts. But by believing these lies I am saying to God I don't like my life.

Then I realized what I was doing and I asked forgiveness from God. I am much happier now and I know that God is much happier with me also.

How About You?
Do you feel good about yourself? Do you realize how wonderfully you are made? Do you believe God has created you the way that He wants you?
