I am not a "justa" nobody

Sometimes I feel like a "justa" a wife, mother, cleaner of the home, a library clerk. All things are important, especially in God's sight because He made me to be a wife, mother, cleaner of the home and a library clerk. I am special. And God uses people who are mechanics, teachers, and in Bible times He used shepherds, carpenters, fishermen. Whatever I am doing and you are doing God can use you.

Look at Amos in the Bible. He was not a prophet or priest or son of either. He was a shepherd and a small businessman in Judah. Would anyone listen to him. He wasn't like Moses and made excuses but he obeyed God and became God's powerful voice for change.

So I am not going to feel like a "justa" anymore and I hope that you don't want to feel that way either. We have a great adventure down the road. It may be hard but if God is with us we can do anything and do it well.

Have a great day!

Blood Test

Every three months or so I have to have blood test done because I am a diabetic. This morning as I was going to get my test done I was thinking about the Lord and how much blood that he shed before He went to the cross.

He was beaten, scourged, and by when he went to carry His cross He had losted so much blood and was weak that someone else had to carry it for Him.

So I am not going to complain about a small pick in my arm in order to get two viles of blood.

Prayer:
Father, I want to thank You for sending Your Son to earth so that I could be with You someday. I am so sorry that Your precious Son had to suffer so much for my sins and the sins of the world. You couldn't even recognize Him hanging there on the cross. It must have been so hard for You. And then when You had to turn Your face from Him and He had to die alone that must have been the hardest for both of You.

Father, I also want to thank You for the Bible. This is Your Words to us for now as we do not have Jesus with us but we do have Your Holy Spirit and He guides us as we read and helps us to hid Your words in our hearts. And that has been a big help to me as You know.

You are a great God and I praise You for Who You Are!

Are You Hungry?

Psalm 34:8
O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

I am really hungry right now. It is around 7:00 am and I have taken my medicine and so I can eat in a half hour. As I am typing my husband is making his breakfast (he has does this for 45 years) and I am smelling coffee and toast.

In our verse for today it is a different kind of hunger and that is being hungry for the things of the Lord. His Word, being with His people. Waiting to know what He wants you to do for the day. Wake up with joy in your heart because you know Him.

So I hope that you are spiritually hungry and want to get all you can from the Word of God in order to life your life as a following and disciple of His.

Are You Hungry?

Psalm 34:8
O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

Right now I am straving. It is 7:00am and I just took my medicine for my stomach and I have to wait for another half hour before I can eat. And my husband is downstairs fixing his breakfast (he has done this for 45 years) and I smell the toast and the coffee and it smells so good.

But in the verse that I have chosen for today to help us along as being disciples of Christ is to see if we are just as hungy for His Word and to see that He is good and to see if we trust Him. I am also very hungry for the Word of God. Sometimes I feel like I have a long way to go in walking the Christian life but having a goal and just reading for a few minutes a day in a quiet time means a lot. And doing this blog and "Sharing The Bible Together" also helps me get into the word and really see what it means so that I can share with you.

So I am hoping you are all hungry today that read this blog. And that you will go and seek to read God's Word and let the Holy Spirit feed you today.

He Answered My Prayer

Psalm 34:4
"I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears."

My husband and I were in the path of Hurricane Irene. We live in upstate New York and about four hours away from New York City. As the news of the storm came on our TV I prayed that we would be save and those around us and for one of our children who lives in New York City.

I became calm and we set up our home in case we needed candles, water and we even put water in the bathtub so if the electric went out we would have water to use for the bathroom.

It began to rain about 2:00a.m. this morning and stopped about 5:00p.m. this evening. It was not a heavy rain and just a slight bit of wind so far. And things are calm. There was a message on facebook from our son and my daughter saw it and called and he is ok. So I am thanking the Lord for this. Our electric did go off but for only an hour. So the Lord was good.

So when I was posting my devotions on the different sites that I am on the verses for today were Psalm 34:3, 4 and I said to myself that I am going to use verse 4 for today's thought. For He did answer my prayer.

But I Don't Want To!

Even though I am a believer, and  I am following after Christ, and reading His word, and learning and trying to put into practice what I am learning-- but  sometimes I want to do my own thing.

For example, this morning. I didn't have to get up for work.  But we have a busy day ahead of us anyway. And the hurricane is headed our direction and should arrive sometime this afternoon and be stronger tomorrow. So we need to get to the store and pick up some things for the week and a little extra because of the storm. But of all mornings I didn't want to get up. I wanted to sleep in. But my husband, who I love dearly, decided that this was not the morning for me to sleep in but we need to get everything out of the way this morning.

But inside I kept saying, "But I don't want to!" My body aches, I am still tired...but that still small voice was pushing me along and so I decided to be a submissive wife and get up, take my medicine, and then I can eat, get dressed and then we can get started on our day's journey.

I don't know about you but just having God's word hidden in my heart and the Holy Spirit working in my life and also hearing good messages from church and on the computer with the groups that I am in makes me a better Christian.

Knowing what is right and doing it is very pleasing to the Lord. So I am happy that I did get up. And I am feeling better already.

My prayers go out to those who may be hit by the hurricane.

Even The Animals Are Punished

Joel 1:18 (KJV)
How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are preplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.

Today, I was reading my own personal devotion in the book of Joel and I realized because God's chosen people were not obeying His commandments and drawning near to Him, He was punishing them. And not only the people but the land and even the cattle.

When I came to verse 1:18 I read that even the flocks of sheep were suffering punishment. That just stuck me as being so sad. I am not sure why-- because there were other animals, but the poor sheep.

What Might We Learn?

We don't have sheep today as they still do in Israel, but the results are the same.  If we turn to idols of today's world and not keep the commandments or rulers of our Heavenly Father, as we would our earthly father, then we too are punished or discipline. Revelation 3:19-As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Maybe it would be sheep but your pet may become punished in some way.

So today let's think "Lord" and not self and do all we can to please Him. Talk to Him today as if you were sitting right next to Him.
