Being A Mom

I was just looking at the news section of Yahoo and say a cute little food item that was made by a mother to use for her children to dunk in soup. That brought back a lot of memories of when my children were small.

Each child was asked to bring in a snack from time to time and not being a traditional person I would find all kinds of things that were different to send in. Two things I remember most is chocolate popcorn and  frog sandwiches. I am not sure now what I put inside of the sandwich but I do remember using a frog cookie cutter to make the shape of the sandwich. My oldest is 42, next child is 40, and youngest is 36 so this was many years ago when this took place. But we had a lot of fun together.

I am so glad that the Lord allowed me to have our three children. And as they were growing up we did all kinds of things so most of the neighborhood kids were at our house so I knew where my kids were. Playing in the mud because we didn't have sand, painting, making things. I could go on but I won't.

I love my children and when we are able to get together now it is always great fun to see how their lives are going and what they are up to.

Crew Ship Still In Water

Up to 10 months to remove capsized cruise ship

This is the title found on the article about the cruise ship that was capsized two weeks ago. Seventeen people are still missing and recovery operations have been stopped due to rough seas. Also the removable of the 500,000 gallons of fluid is not going to happen at this time because of the rough seas. When it is time comes  to remove the fuel it is going to take 28 days and 15 tanks to do it.

When this accident happened all I could think about is the sinking of the Titanic. It almost had the same feel to it. The people didn't pay attention to warnings or didn't know what was going on. The crew didn't know about rescue procedures and so some lives were lost. The only difference was how the captain responded. And there were more lives saved this time than when the Titanic went down.

Father, I pray for those who were injured and I pray for the families who don't know where their family members are. It is a hard time for these people and we know that You can be there with them and show them You are there. I thank you for answering this prayer.

From The Mouths Of Small Children

When I did my story time at work on Friday I had four two-year-olds in my class. They were very good and we got to read a story, play a game, do a counting poem and a craft.

One little boy got to the story time early and then after he and his mother stayed for another hour or so and this little boy was so very good. But for some reason when the mother took him over to the adult side so she could get a book for herself this little boy changed completely.

He started screeming. He was running around the tables and crying. In his limited spoken words I could hear him say, " I don't want to be bad. I don't want to go home go to bed in trouble." I really felt bad for the mother as she was trying to calm him down. But this little one knew that he was in trouble.

We get all kinds of things happen in the library. And I do enjoy working int he children's department.

Having Great Friends

It is very important to have friends in your life that will be with you no matter what. I am very happy to say that I have a few great friends like that. It is special to me that they care about me as I care about them. They are there for me in prayer and advise.

My very best friend is Jesus. And He cares for me all the time. He knows when I need things before I know I need them. And he provides what I need. Now there are a lot of things that I want. But I don't always get those things which is good.

So talk to a friend today.

Put On The Whole Armor Of God

I have been reading other people's blogs, devotions, books, and commends and have been greatly blessed. I am beginning to put into practice what I am learning and growing closer to the Lord.

The closer I am drawn to Him the more the enemy strikes out and throw his darts at me. I have a few area that I am weak in and sure enough last evening I had a great struggle with the enemy. I am just so glad that I had my armor on. My shield I placed in front of me and those darts were bouncing off. The verses that I have memorized came back to mind so could keep repeating them. The enemy stopped. But I know he will be back.

I am ready but also need of prayer to keep on being ready. And that is my prayer for you who read this blog. That you too will be wearing your armor.

I Did It Again!

I am liking this idea of chosing a word for the year and putting it into practice more and more.

My yesterday's focus was to clear off my work table so when I was through with my writing I could work on my art work. It was getting late in afternoon and it was almost time for me to start supper. I had not yet clean off my work area. I knew if I didn't do it right then it would not get done. So I picked up the first object and put it where I wanted it to go. And you know what? It only took about twenty minutes to get everything in a place and a place for everything. A great accomplishment for me. I was so excited. And I also worked on my story that I am writing for children.

Thank You Father for Your help. Without I would not have the energy to do these things.

I Did It!

As I stated in one of my post that the word for this year for me "focus." Yesterday I was focusing on clearing off my desk so that when my husband is using the computer I could be at my desk writing or researching the material I have printed out.

I did it! Now I have to clear off my work table so that when I get done with my writing I can do my crafting also.

I am so glad for Christian writers who write what is on their hearts so that we can learn how to do things that are required of us to do. Sometimes we want to do things but just don't no how. So God gives that talent to someone else who shares and we learn.

Focus/Sign Language

I was just reading another person's blog on being focus. When I first learned sign language I appreciated the sign they use for this word. And often times I find myself using this sign when I am trying to focus on an idea or project.

The sign means directing one's attention. You begin with using both of your hands near each side of the face, (B hand which means four fingers facing straight up with each thumb against palm of hand.) Your B hands are facing each other  and then you bring the hands down while tipping the fingers downward and toward each other.

Almost looks like you are saluting an officer with both hands and then you bring down your hand and touch your fingertips together.  If you think about it this makes a lot of sense.

We all need to focus or concentrate on what we are doing at the moment. I know I get distracted a lot. But if I can just remember the sign for focus I believe I will do better in the future.

I am so glad that I can read other writer's work and get ideas and understanding from them on different subjects. God is so good in using people to guide us along.

Really Excited

Two major events have taken place in the last couple of days for me. The first took place on Sunday afternoon and I had my picture taken with a Cutler's Cup Trophy won my our local hockey team American Hockey League The Senators of Binghamton, New York.

The second event just happened this morning where I met, through watching Anderson Cooper's show, a very famous author. Who was rejected over 1,000 times but keep on writing and became a self-publisher and now has many books written and published herself and now a publisher has picked up on her writing.

A am a new writer. Well I say that, but have written most of my life and enjoy writing for children and doing Bible Studies. I have been published in some take-home papers and my first tempt of writing I was accepted at Highlight Magazine for one of my puzzles which I also like to do. I have also written reviews for books for a magazines that goes to libraries and schools.

I have some ideas for Bible quiz book for children and have written a story for children which I am revising and hope to get out into the world.

So it has been a very exciting day for me and a very encouraging day.

Grandson Post About Tim Tebow

More than 24 years ago, Pam & her husband Bob were serving as missionaries to the Philippines and praying for a fifth child. Pam contracted amoebic dysentery, an infection of the intestine caused by a parasite found in contaminated food or drink. She went into a coma and was treated with strong antibiotics before they discovered she was pregnant. Doctors urged her to abort the baby for her own saf...ety and told her that the medicines had caused irreversible damage to her baby. She refused the abortion and cited her Christian faith as the reason for her hope that her son would be born without the devastating disabilities physicians predicted. Pam said the doctors didn't think of it as a life, they thought of it as a mass of fetal tissue. While pregnant, Pam nearly lost their baby four times but refused to consider abortion. She recalled making a pledge to God with her husband: If you will give us a son, we’ll name him Timothy and we’ll make him a preacher. Pam ultimately spent the last two months of her pregnancy in bed and eventually gave birth to a healthy baby boy August 14, 1987. Pam’s youngest son is indeed a preacher. He preaches in prisons, makes hospital visits, and serves with his father’s ministry in the Philippines. He also plays football. Pam’s son is Tim Tebow. Thank you Jesus.

Simple Things

I was just asking my Heavenly Father what I should write about today. The thought came to me to write about simply things. Such as having pancakes for supper. Reading a good book. Listening to good music. Just taking the time to be quiet. Enjoying doing something you like to do and not feel quilty about. Slow down.

I am just relaxing writing this. So hope it helps you to relax and enjoy life.

Getting Tired

I had one of those days in which I wasn't fully with it. I wasn't sick but just felt so tired. As it turns out my blood sugar was low. So when I ate something felt a little better. Took a nap. Now am feeling tired again.

Reason I mention this is that it is good when we know our bodies and when we are not feeling well and usually we can tell what the problem is. God shows us when we need to rest or need help with our bodies and I am so glad that He does, other wise I would be like the Bunny that keeps going and going and going.

Discovering New Programs

January 11, 2012 is my daughter's birthday. And I wanted to do something special for her as far as a card goes. So I discovered at Christmas time a program called Smilebox.com. It is such a great program. You can do all kinds of things with it such as having music playing as each page of your design flips up.

So what I did was took some of my daughter's baby pictures and started her birthday story out with those. Then I added a picture of some friends she had when she was younger. Also some of the old family pictures and a newer one. But of all the ones that I chose for her the ones she liked best were the ones of the backyard. It just brought back memories. So I am glad that I was able to make her happy.

Birthdays for most people are fun to celebrate unless you are getting as old as I am and my husband. Then we stop counting the years. But the Lord has our days numbered and we can enjoy each day as it comes.

Finding A Treasure

Yesterday I cleaned out a closet of ours. It was long over due project to be done. I found some clothes I forgot I had and the most valuable treasure I found was a very old book. I didn't look at it very well and was going to give it away.  My husband looked at it and said to keep it.

It is called Little Folks Of The Bible-Boys Of The New Testament and is written by Dorothy Donnell Calhoun. When I opened the front cover it has .98 and 11/87. There was a receipt in it and it was dated 1-16-89 and again the first item on the list was 0.98 and then there were other item prices listed. Then I went to the copyright page and the date was 1915. And it is the First Edition printed September, 1915. Reprinted in 1916. 1918,1919. 1920. 1922. It looks like it was a very popular book.

The boys that were included in the book: The Boyhood of Jesus, The Lad with the loaves, John the Baptist, and Paul's Nephew. It is written in a story form so it is nice reading.

It reminded me how many times the Bible has been reprinted.  We don't have the first edition of that but it is still good reading material and a great treasure to have.

Music

I have always been a little strange in the kind of music I like. When growing up most of my school mates were into the Beetles etc. I liked and still do Andy Williams.

I enjoy more instrumental music than singing, but right now I am reading Susan Boyle's Autobiography which makes me appreciate her singing even more.

I am so glad that music is mentioned in the Bible. And says we are make a joyful noise unto the Lord. I think it really means to sing or play an instrument with all of our heart. To others it might not sound well but to the Lord He is loving every minute of our praise to him.

Burr It's Cold Outside

We have been very spoiled in our area. The temperature for this time of year has been very warm. Most days in the 40's and higher until the beginning of this week. The temperature is only like 7decrees or as low as 4 decrees and with the windshield factor added to it is below zero.

So my pocket of my coat is filled with my gloves, my band that covers my ears, my hat that covers my head and the front comes up to my nose. Actually there is a sign in my bank that would not allow me to wear that hat in the bank. How times have changed. I also have a scarf that I wrap around me to help keep the cold from going down my neck. The funny part is that on Friday of this week it is suppose to be back up in the 40s. It will be like a heat wave.

I am so glad that God made all kinds of seasons. Even though I have health problems where the cold affects how I feel it is so great to be in an area where the weather changes. I love the different seasons.

What A Veiw

Sometimes in the afternoon I lay down to take a nap. And that is what I did today. Around 4:30 the phone rang and it was our daughter but being that it was dark in the room I pushed the wrong button on the phone and she hung up.

I lay back down and the phone rang again. This time I got up and went out to the living room, quickly graped my stationary bike and waited for the person to speak after the message got through playing.  No one was on the other end.

Oh well I thought I will still ride my bike for a few minutes since I had some cookies I ate earlier in the day and riding my bike would help burn those calories away.

Since I had the bike facing a different way today I was looking at the wall hanging my sister gave to me when we first met. That is another story in itself. Then I turned my head to the left and when I looked outside my picture window I saw the most beautiful color pink on the bushes. This is usually caused by where the sun is shining.

I got off my bike. Put it back where I keep it and came right up to write about it.  I was wondering what I was going to write about today and the Lord gave me my answer.  It was such beautiful scene that I had to share it with you.

God is so good in all the things that He gives to us. Sometimes they are big things and sometimes they are small things, but they are always welcomed and am most thankful for.

New Goals For 2012

I watched Anderson Cooper's show this morning and he had some great guests on telling how to do things in a different way in 2012. One was on diet and exercise, one was on organizing your room, one person talked about money. And so it was a very helpful show. If you would like to see it you can go to AndersonCooper.com and check out program for January 2, 2012.

The reason I bring this up is that my husband took down our Christmas tree yesterday and brought up my stationary bike so I could use it upstairs where it is warmer. It was in our cellar and it is real cold down there.

So every time I have a chance now I can just get on my bike, look out my big picture window, and see all kinds of things and go for miles. Well, I haven't gotten to doing more than a mile or two. But the more I do it the miles I will go.

So will keep you posted to tell you how I am doing riding my bike. And I think I will have other stories to share as I look out my window.
