Communications

Starting today for my e-mail devotional (Reading The Bible Together-bjhousewriter@gmail.com) I started to do a word study. The word for today was apostle. Which means one sent forth with orders, a messenger, or a delegate. Galatians 1:1 was the reference and Paul was the apostle. If you would like to receive this devotional just write in the subject I would like to receive devotional and I will add you to the list.

The other day while working at the library we received some donations of books. I enjoy finding out new information on things so I was able to bring home a book called Eureka! It is a book of illustrated history of inventions from the wheel to the computer. The book is copyrighted so I can not copy any information word for word, but I can give you a general account of what I discovered.

So one of the first words I come to is communication and it is suggested that not only the use of traveling somewhere, let's say by car, train, or plane, communication could mean sending a message carried by someone else if you could not deliver the message yourself. So I felt that this discovery was very timely. Of course in Bible times most people traveled by walking or if they had one a donkey. Later as time went on there became many ways of traveling.

Apostles, missionaries, just a person in general can be called by God to be a messenger in some form. That is so exciting to me! I hope that you like to share Jesus with others.

Thinking About Home

When you think about the word home what do you think about? Is it your family, your treasures, such as a collections that you have put together, or pictures your children or grandchildren have drawn and are on your refrigerator? Maybe you have a pet and when your away for the day you look forward to coming home to your pet. By the way, I have a turtle and she is now celebrating her twenty-third birthday.

Is your home a happy home with lots of excitement and challenges of raising children of all ages? Maybe your children are still in the baby stage, or middle aged, and yes maybe even teenagers. It is never quiet in your home, but you want to be the best parent you can be. And you look forward to what a day may be with the Lord's help He will get you through. Maybe are your children are grown and it is just you and your husband and you may be adjusting to the change.

Now all the things I mentioned above have to do with our earthly home. These are the things that the Lord has provided for us and has given to us to take care of. But if you are a believer in Christ you have another home to look forward to going to. What comes to your mine when you think of heaven?

As I was waking up and having my quiet time with the Lord that thought came to my mind.  Jesus was my first thought. then seeing God in whatever form He is in. Jesus has a body because of His death on the cross, but I am not really sure what my Father is going to look like.

There are other things about our new home that are going to be different then the ones down here. Jesus is preparing a mansion for us. All kinds of thoughts come into my mind when I thought of a mansion. It could be huge, or it might be a small home, but it doesn't really matter as Jesus is making a special home just for us.

There will be no night there. That is nice. I like daytime better. No more crying, hurting, and we will be around a lot of people. I just enjoy being with people. And I imagine that the Lord will have plenty of work for us to do, but that won't be a bad thing. We will eat in heaven too. And it is going to be a very beautiful city with streets of gold and gates of peal. But I don't think we are going to really notice those things as we will be with Jesus and God our Father.

Oh what a eternal that will be!

Are you looking forward to going to your new home? Your real home in heaven?

A Day Of Reflection

It has been awhile since I have written. When I first started this blog I wanted to write everyday. But like haiku poetry, I don't always seem to find a subject that seems to fit. My life is a quiet life, well somewhat, and I don't what I have to share with you would  be interesting. Then as I was doing my daily devotions today I read Proverbs 27;19 which says, As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the person.
( NLT)

I began to think about that a little more and decided that everyday is a day in which I can praise the Lord for something. And this would show my heart condition as being thankful.

Today it is the weather. Right now there is sunshine and no rain. Some places have been hit very hard with storms. I have been sick for the last two days, but praise the Lord I am doing better today and should be able to go to work tomorrow. I have found a great new hobby for me and that helps me to relax and stay calm as I have problems doing that. The hobby I found blends in with other things that I do. So it is all working together for good.

I have this blog in which I can talk to you and pray for you even though I don't know you I can pray that the Lord will continue to be with you if you are His. Give you strength and courage to face what you have to face for today. If you are not a child of God I can pray for you also that you will discover who Christ is and what He has done for you. He died for you, He was buried, and He rose again. Then He went back to heaven and is with His Father and preparing a place for you and me and will return again to take us home!

So I am praying that you all have a great day. And just take time and reflex on your own life and see how your heart is. Is it happy and you are showing it to others in a good way. Or is your heart in an angry mood or your unhappy. Is your life showing that also. Think also all that the Lord has done for you. And that should help you to sing with joy! Maybe your going through tough times. You can be sure that God is with You and He will help you through it.
