The Devil's Children
John 8:44-47
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do you not believe me? He that is of God heareth God's words; ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
*Jesus was telling the people that they were the child of the Devil. They loved to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning and has always hated the truth. There is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. So when Jesus told the people the truth they just naturally didn't believe Him. Then He asked which of them could truthfully accuse Him of sin? And since He was telling them the truth no one believed Him. He asked them why they didn't believe Him. Anyone whose Father is God listens gladly to the words of God. Since they didn't it proved them weren't God's children.
